Terms of Use

The deal, in plain English.

Same note as on the privacy page: this is a personal hobby project, and I wrote this myself in good faith. It is not legal advice and no lawyer was involved in writing it.

What this is

Rick & Morty Heist is a free, unofficial, fan-made digital board game, run by one person as a hobby. There is nothing to buy, no subscription, and no payments of any kind.

By creating an account and playing, you are agreeing to the points below. If you are not happy with them, please do not sign up.

This is a fan project

This is an unofficial, non-commercial, fan-made digital adaptation. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or associated with Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Discovery, or the creators of Rick and Morty. All related names, characters, and marks are the property of their respective owners.

I make no claim to any of it, and no money changes hands for any of it. If a rights holder would like something taken down, email me at [email protected] and I will take it down.

No warranty, and no uptime

The game is provided as-is. It might break, it might lose a game, it might get a rule wrong. Nothing here is guaranteed to work.

It is worth being specific about where it runs: the game server is my personal computer, reached through a Cloudflare Tunnel. If that machine is switched off, asleep, restarting, or the power or internet at my house drops, the game is simply down. There is no failover and nobody is on call.

So there is no uptime promise, no promise that a game in progress will survive, and no promise that any of this stays online at all. I might take it offline permanently at any time, without notice. Please do not rely on it for anything that matters.

Your account

You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to it. Use an email address you can still get into, and do not share your login with anyone.

If you lose access to your email address and your sign-in method, I may not be able to get the account back for you.

I can suspend or remove any account that is being used to abuse the service or to wreck other people's games. That call is mine, and given the size of this thing, that is the entire enforcement process.

Acceptable use

This is a cooperative game, played mostly by friends. Keep it that way.

  • Do not cheat, and do not exploit bugs to spoil other players' games. Finding a bug is fine, and telling me about it is better. Farming one to ruin a co-op game is not.
  • Do not harass other players, and do not use an abusive or offensive display name. Your display name is visible to everyone you play with.
  • Do not use bots, scripts, or any other automated access to the game or its server.
  • Do not try to attack, overload, or break into the service, or to reach data that is not yours. Bear in mind that the server is a computer in somebody's house.
  • Do not create an account or play if you are under 13. Nothing on the signup form asks your age and nothing checks it, so this one runs on trust. If I find out an account belongs to someone under 13, I will delete it.

That last one is the same rule as the age section of the Privacy Policy, written out here so the two documents say the same thing.

Your game data is not guaranteed to survive

Statistics, profiles, saved map layouts, and games in progress can be deleted or reset at any time. A bug, a database change, a wipe, or me clearing things out can all do it, and none of it is backed up for your benefit.

Live game state expires automatically 24 hours after the last move in that game, by design, so an abandoned game does not sit there waiting forever. Treat your stats as a fun readout, not as a permanent record.

Changes to these terms

These terms can change. When they do, the "Last updated" date at the top changes with them. There is no notification, so that date is the signal. If you keep playing after a change, that means the new version is fine by you.
